FAQs

Q:   How early should I book?
A:   I accept limited sessions each month, so it's best to book at least 4-6 weeks in advance. Weekends are most popular and tend to book fast. If you have a specific date in mind, please contact me for availability and I will do my best to accommodate.

Q:  When should I book a newborn session?
A. For the time being I am no longer offering newborn sessions. I recommend Heidi Allred  or Laura Taylor

Q:   What should my child wear for the session?
A:  BABIES - keep it simple. It's best to make sure the clothes fit and aren't ones that they'll "grow into". I love little boys in simply jeans and a hat, or maybe a little tie. Little girls in tutus and pearls or a simple dress are fabulous too.

GIRLS - I absolutely love anything vintage! Lace, ruffles, feathers, glitter. Fun and funky is awesome too - A sundress with cowboy boots, or t-shirt with a tutu and jeans/tights. Funky hats, headbands, leg warmers etc. I love a lot of texture and color - ruffles, lace, ribbons, funky stitching, etc.

BOYS - try jeans and a polo with the "popped" collar. Jeans with layered tees. A blazer and un-tucked shirt and jeans. Rocker shirt, jeans and high tops. Try to avoid large logos or words, we want the focus on your child and not the branding.

FAMILIES - I suggest choosing coordinating clothes as opposed to matching. It's best to choose 2-3 colors and incorporate those into the outfits. Try to avoid all black or white shirts and jeans/khakis. If you have any questions of what to wear, please don't hesitate to email me. I'd love to help! Pinterest is one of my favorite places to get inspired for outfits! Check out this link for a little color and outfit inspiration for family sessions.

It's important that you and/or your kids feel comfortable in and like what you're wearing. When you're not, it shows. I bought the most adorable outfit for my 5 year old son. I couldn't even get him to TRY the outfit on. Needless to say he ended up wearing shorts and a t-shirt that he helped pick out. Things went much better after that. I know it's not always easy, trust me, trying to coordinate 5 kids for family photos can be beyond stressful. But I found that if I let the kids be involved and give their input (whether it is accepted or not), they feel like they're part of the photos and can be more cooperative. I won't promise you that, but it's worth a shot.

Q:   How and when do I pay?
A:  For all sessions a non refundable retainers fee of $250 is due at the time of booking in order to secure a date, payable by e-transfer to hello@alyshasladek.com . The balance is due 3 days prior to your session. Cancellations MUST be made at least 72 hours prior to your session. The retainer fee may be applied for 1 rescheduled appointment within 14 days. Appointments that are cancelled WITHIN 72 hours may require a new retainers fee. Exceptions will be made at my discretion.

For weddings, a  non refundable $500 retainer fee is due within 7 days of booking. The balance is due 2 weeks prior to your wedding date.

Payment can be either cash, e-transfer or cheque payable to Alysha Sladek. Contact me for mailing address.
